Made to handle real life

For this family of four, the brief was simple: create a space that could keep up. A space that could handle school runs, snack time, and family dinners, while still feeling calm and easy to live in.

Set within their four‑bedroom home, the kitchen needed to do a lot. Quick breakfasts on busy mornings. Proper meals at the weekend. And the occasional quiet moment in between. It had to work hard, without ever feeling like it.

The answer? A design that balances timeless style with everyday usability, thoughtful where it matters, and quietly confident throughout.

Let's talk layout

The kitchen is arranged in an L‑shape, giving the main working area a clear sense of flow.

From grabbing cereal in a rush to cooking a proper meal at the weekend, everything is where you’d expect it to be — no awkward corners, no wasted space, no second-guessing. Just a layout that supports how the family actually lives.

An additional run sits closer to the dining table, creating a useful buffer between cooking and family life. It’s a spot where someone can grab a drink, use a coffee machine or set out snacks without stepping into the main cooking zone. That separation means the kitchen can stay functional, even when more than one person is using the space at once.

Storage does a lot of the heavy lifting here. A tall larder keeps food organised and easy to reach (no more rummaging at the back of cupboards). A clever corner pull out shelving unit makes good use of space that often gets ignored, keeping pans and essentials accessible without wasting a corner. Fully integrated appliances help keep the room feeling uncluttered, so there’s less visual noise on already busy days.

Style that settles in

Shaker styling felt like the right choice for Ash and Becks. Familiar, timeless, and easy to live with. But this isn’t about going traditional for the sake of it.

Finished in Hartforth Blue, the cabinetry brings depth and calm to the space. It’s a colour that feels grounded and reassuring, while still adding a bit of character. And, importantly, it’s forgiving, ideal in a home with young children where fingerprints and knocks are part of the furniture.

Inside, a dust grey carcass keeps things feeling considered, even behind the doors. It’s one of those details you might not notice straight away, but you’d miss it if it wasn’t there.

Soft-close drawers and doors come as standard. That quiet, gentle close? It’s a small thing, but it makes a difference, especially when the kitchen’s in constant use.

Built for busy days

With two young children, this kitchen needed to stand up to daily life.

Surfaces are durable and easy to clean, designed to handle everything from homework spills to weekend baking sessions. The quartz worktop, a crisp white with subtle blue veining, adds brightness while keeping things practical. It’s tough, resilient, and doesn’t mind being put to work.

Handles were chosen by the homeowners, adding a personal touch that makes the space feel like theirs from day one.

The details that matter

The sink area is simple, but well thought through, a Franke inset sink paired with a Bern tap, creating a washing zone that’s both practical and in keeping with the overall design.

Everything feels joined up. Nothing overdone. Just a series of small, smart decisions that come together to make the kitchen easier to use.

The result

A kitchen that fits around family life, not the other way round.

It’s calm when it needs to be, hardworking when it has to be, and always ready for whatever the day brings. From early mornings to evening wind-downs, it supports the rhythm of the home without getting in the way.

Thoughtful storage, durable materials, and a layout that simply works. Proof that a family kitchen can be practical, considered, and quietly beautiful all at once.
