When you’re choosing a kitchen, it’s easy to focus on how it looks. But how it’s made matters too. Not in a vague, tick‑box way, but in the practical sense of whether it’s built to last, wasted less to produce, and made responsibly from the start.
That’s where sustainability fits in for us. Not as a headline, but as part of how we’ve worked for years.
Built close to home
Every Paula Rosa kitchen is made in our Sussex factory. That matters, because it means we see every stage of the process and take responsibility for it.
We use responsibly sourced materials, including FSC®‑certified timber, which means the wood comes from well‑managed forests. More importantly, we build kitchens to cope with real life. When cabinets stay square and doors keep their alignment, the kitchen doesn’t need replacing prematurely. That’s one of the most effective forms of sustainability there is.
What carbon neutral actually means
Our factory has been carbon neutral since 2020, and it runs on 100% renewable energy.
In simple terms, carbon neutral means that emissions created by manufacturing are balanced out, so the overall impact is zero. We do this through a combination of reducing emissions wherever possible and offsetting what can’t get be removed. It’s part of a long-term commitment, not a one-off achievement.
We’ve been actively improving our environmental approach for over 15 years, with clear targets in place to keep reducing emissions and move towards net zero. Net zero goes a step further, aiming to cut emissions as close to zero as possible, rather than balancing them after the fact.
Less waste, more thought
A lot of responsible manufacturing happens quietly. We’re careful about what we use, and just as careful about what we don’t. In practice, that looks like:
- Nothing from our manufacturing process going to landfill
- Waste materials reused to create energy instead of being thrown away
- Packaging kept simple, minimal and recyclable
These decisions don’t change how your kitchen looks, but they do change the impact it has along the way.
